Freshwinds Eco-Village Housing Co-operative invites people for a ‘waiting list’
The Board of Freshwinds is excited to be applying for funding, so that housing can be built on the gentle sunny slopes behind the 64 Fairfield Road property we have purchased. We need to know how many people are interested in living in that housing so we can prove need, and help justify our project to the funders.
Freshwinds Eco-Village will look like a collection of buildings, joined by lanes and walkways, with access to trails, gardens and a playground. We hope to build 63 units: a mix of 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, 3-bedroom and 4-bedroom units.
- Some of the units will be barrier-free (i.e. on one level, with room for wheelchair access).
- Some units will be subsidized for those with lower incomes, with support from the NB
- Department of Social Development (you will need to meet a low income threshold to qualify for one of these).
- Some will be in small 3-storey apartment buildings; others will be in townhome-style buildings.
Could you see yourself living here, cooperatively, in this kind of housing? If so, then we want to hear from you! Email us at info@freshwindscooperative.ca, and let us know the following;
- Your name
- Your contact information
- The size of unit you would like
- If you’d like barrier-free and/or subsidized housing
Once we hear from you we will send you more information about Co-op Housing and put you on our Waiting List. Then, once our project is funded, we will proceed with inviting you to enter into the process of becoming a member (that has a small cost – no need for that at this point!), and considering the housing that will be available.
With luck, our funding will come through by June 2025, and we will start building soon after.
